Tom Ford Fleur de Chine, part of the Atelier d’Orient collection, Tom Ford wanted to capture the “scandalous femininity” of women in “Asia’s cinematic past, including the ‘30s femme fatale in a cheongsam and dark lipstick.” As a result, Fleur de Chine balances delicacy with boldness, freshness mixed with warmth. When it opens, peach, plum and clementine are joined by a delicate tea note, which bridges the florals and fruit with its warm base of woods, creamy balsams, and a hint of leather. Like filmmaker Wong Kar-wai’s “In the Mood for Love, ” whose colors and feel is both vintage-inspired but modern, Fleur de Chine is inspired by the past without being dated.
